…only 11 more days until my year-long misery is ended and “Shutter Island” is released!
Since I blabbered on about my excitement here, I’ll spare you a repeat performance and leave you instead with the trailer. Scorcese, don’t fail me now!

I saw the TV spot last night during Superbowl, it looks intense and creepy (in a good way). I hope Scorsese delivers, Meredith, I’m going to wait for your review before I go see it!
That’s high praise indeed — I only hope the movie lives up to my expectations and that the review lives up to how good it is (here’s to hoping, anyway)!
even if its guff it will still have Mark Ruffalo in it
Ruffalo’s the man. If I loved him in crap like “13 Going on 30,” no way I can’t love him here.
I hope that pushing the film back is only because it would not be lost in a sea of Oscar movies last year. I hope it not because it sucks donkey balls.
If you’d ask me what I thought was going to come after “suck,” it wouldn’t have been what you typed. Most creative insult there, Branden.
I’m going to with poor marketing as the reason for the move, which I suspect might be the real reason more than wanting it to be in the 2010 Oscar race. But who knows?
I could do an insult like nobody’s business. I’m doing a double feature of this and “The Wolfman.” I’m Lizzing right now. I have my fingers crossed that they don’t suck.
I can’t wait either – I’m even more excited since I’ll be doing a Scorsese-heavy podcast right after seeing it!
Oooh, a Scorcese podcast! Now that sounds like my idea of good time. For real.
Woohoo! I’m with you. This really bland stretch of movie release is almost over!
I don’t know why but this Scorcese flick doesn’t have me jonesing to watch it. I’ll admit the DiCapprio thing is getting a bit old but if the story looked better I’d still be excited… like I am for Inception. The fact that the novel was written by the same guy that did Mystic River has peaked my interest a bit but I just don’t know. Plus, the release date being pushed back is never a good sign. Still, why am I not excited? It’s Scorcese for chrissakes.
P.S. Dig the site. Just added to my blogroll. 🙂
Any chance you read the novel? If not, it’s equally as thrilling as “Mystic River” … if not better. That’s why I’m so stoked — the source material. And Dennis Lehane was involved in the movie, which means (I hope) that not much of the novel was changed. Also, I might be one of the few people who went through that whole “Leo’s soooo dreamy!” phase and came out the other side thinking he’s turned into a mighty fine actor.
That’s funny… I went thru the same thing only it was “Winslet is soooo dreamy!” 🙂 I have not read the novel. Did not know it was a LeHane novel until I saw it at Target today. Like I said, that peeked my interest as I love the disturbing stories he tells. But, honestly, I’ll still see it. As a movie geek, I see everything. I’m just not as excited as I want to be for a Scorcese flick!
As always, love the site. If you have some free time, please drop by mine! 🙂
I’ve read everything this guy has written, and every last book would make a great movie. I don’t know if that’s a skill that comes naturally to him or if he took a class, but damn Lehane’s good at it.
Hey, M.Carter… I love your site and wanted to see if you’d like to contribute a piece on my page. Sorry to write you here but it’s the only way I knew to get a hold of you… E-Mail me if you’re interested!
Hey, just today discovered this blog but I have to admit that it seems sweet. I totally agree with your post. Have a good day, keep up the great work and I’ll definitely follow it.
